Swiss materials company in new hands
More tidying up in the label stock world. As reported in the last issue, financially-troubled SJP UK becomes a subsidiary of ScandStick, a Swedish manufacturer of self-adhesive materials, and was renamed ScandStick UK Ltd. SJP’s owner’s, Rutland Trust, has now sold SJP (Suisse) to Groupe Gascogne who renamed it Sopal-Panoval (it was formerly Panoval Label before becoming part of the Samuel Jones Group group a few years back).
Sopal-Panoval is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps and has 115 employees. The company uses modern plant with a production capacity of 100 million square meters (109.3 million square yards) for self-adhesive paper and film yards) for silicone-coated release papers. Its main markets are in France, Benelux, Germany and Switzerland.
Groupe Gascogne is a large manufacturer of packaging materials and protective wraps. Its flexible packaging division now comprises Sopal in France, Sopal BV in The Netherlands and now Sopal-Panoval SA. About half of its sales are derived from exports to more than 70 countries.
